Presentation of the scholarship : Murdoch University Scholarships
This scholarship was established in memory of Sow-Theng Leong, Professor of Asian Studies at Murdoch University from 1985 to 1987, and aims to promote academic excellence in the study of Asian languages and cultures.
Professor Leong was born in 1939 in Malaysia and received his university education at Brandeis and Harvard Universities.
He held teaching and research posts at the University of Malaysia, the International Christian University in Tokyo, Australian National University and Melbourne University before taking up his post at Murdoch.

- Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) (B1316/B1316A or H1256),
- Bachelor of Arts (Indonesian) (B1316/B1316A),
- Bachelor of Arts (Japanese) (B1316/B1316A),
- Bachelor of Asian Studies (Specialist) at either undergraduate or honours level,
OR - a postgraduate degree that requires travel to Asia for study of an Asian topic.
