Do you have professional experience and want to deepen your skills in a development-related topic?

ARES scholarships offer you the possibility of following a one-year bachelor’s or specialized master’s degree or continuing education between 2 and 6 months within an establishment of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium.

Each year, ARES grants an average of 130 scholarships for baccalaureate holders as part of continuing education programs to nationals of its partner countries.

Presentation of the scholarship

The master’s degree in integrated health risk management aims to train leaders and actors of change at different levels, international, national and local, to allow the emergence of a systemic approach to current health issues.

By their complexity, these issues call for changes in structures and modes of action in health, through intersectoral, interprofessional and interdisciplinary efforts.

More specifically, each participant will acquire skills in analyzing complex problems and intervention strategies, with a view to facilitating the multi-stakeholder processes required for their development and implementation.

The training therefore leads participants to become agents of change and creators of collaborations, by adopting a posture of reflective, collaborative and committed practitioner.

capacity for change will depend on learning outcomes but also on the inclusion of learners in an international network made up of partners and alumni.

The training is aimed at health professionals wishing to take part in health risk management at the human-animal-environment interface and ideally benefiting from significant professional experience.

The aim of this training is to support these people in their process of change in their professional framework in favor of greater integration, interdisciplinarity in the management of health issues.

Therefore, the admission criteria are:

  • second cycle diploma;
  • proven professional experience in health risk management;
  • present a professional project to promote the diploma;
  • additional training is an advantage in the selection.

The introduction of a scholarship application must be done according to the introduction procedures and meet the admissibility criteria described below.

The selection of scholarship holders is carried out by a selection panel for each training course after analysis of their administrative admissibility by ARES.

All files received between the first and the last day of the call will be treated equally.

ARES encourages female candidates, with equal quality, female candidates will be preferred.

Admissibility criteria

Applying for an ARES scholarship is completely free.

ARES does not charge any fees at any stage of the application or selection process whatsoever.

For his request to be admissible, the candidate must:

  1. Has nationality, resides and works in one of the countries mentioned above.
  2. Have a diploma comparable to a Belgian 1st cycle diploma
  3. Evidence of a relevant professional occupation
  4. Complete the file in the language in which the training is given and can attest to a good written and spoken knowledge of it.
  5. Apply for only one training.

The selection phase is carried out by a deliberating jury organized for each training.

ARES grants the selection panel the right to assess the compliance of the files with the common selection criteria described below, taken individually or in combination with one another.

The submission of a scholarship application must be done according to the introduction procedures and meet the admissibility criteria.

ARES does not charge any fees at any stage of the application or selection process whatsoever.

Your application must be submitted to ARES via the GIRAF platform:

  • You must first make sure you have an active GIRAF account.
  • This account will then be validated by ARES and you will receive a confirmation email to create a password and connect.
  • You can  create an account on the GIRAF platform via this link .
  • Once connected to your GIRAF account, you can access the application form
  • From the moment you click on “Submit my application”, your file is sent to ARES and you can no longer modify it.

Please note, compliance with the admissibility criteria in no way guarantees selection and eligibility for training.

Applicants do not need to obtain prior admission to one of the French-speaking higher education institutions in Belgium to be able to apply for ARES scholarships.

Applications must be submitted via GIRAF by January 28, 2022 at 12 noon (Belgian time, UTC + 1) at the latest.

Applications submitted after this date will not be taken into consideration.

All successful and reserve candidates will receive an email after selection (June 2022).

Unsuccessful applicants will receive an email by the end of June 2022 at the latest.

No communication other than those mentioned above will be made to candidates.
